Charity & Community
Given that our managing director Ian Rudder is a Board member at Havering Adults with Disabilities (HAD) Charity, a large number of the charity events that Vir2ue either support or attend, revolve around HAD. Supporting youth is also a key driver for the business whether that be in the working environment or socially.
Fund Raising for Havering Adults with Disabilities (HAD)
Vir2ue were first involved with fundraising for Havering Adults with Disabilities (HAD) in June 2019, when we were invited to play in a Charity football match against a Tottenham Hotspur legends side, held at the Aveley Football Club.
As soon as Vir2ue were presented with this opportunity, we had no hesitation in helping to put together a charity team to play the Spurs legends, additionally whilst pledging money for shirt sponsorship.
A fantastic event which at the time was a record fund raising event in the history of the HAD charity. Unfortunately, we lost 7 – 2 and it’s the only trophy Spurs have won in many, many years.
Golf Charity Day – Annual Event
The next big event that Vir2ue played a significant part in both participation and fund raising was the inaugural Golf day in May 22.
This event was held at the Top Meadow golf club and Vir2ue were represented by a number of 4 ball teams.
Although unsuccessful in the teams’ event, our MD Ian did win nearest ball the PIN competition.
Based on the success of the golf day which was the highest fund-raising event for HAD in 2022, HAD decided to run this event annually, now known as the HAD golf day which took place in the 1st week of June 2023.
This charity fund raising event eclipsed the money raised in 2022 and thus became the highest fund-raising event so far.
Ride London Charity Cyclying Event
As one of the leadership team at Vir2ue, Tommy Harmer is a keen cyclist, so we could not resist supporting a fund-raising event that was based om cycling.
The event was the Ride 60 London, which was a 60-mile route past many of the landmarks in the city of London.
Tommy dragged the Vir2ue MD with him to the event and notwithstanding zero training Ian and Tommy completed the route around the 4-hour mark. The only downside to the event was Ian ending up completing 70 miles due to a slight unforced detour along the wrong route.
Supporting Youth Through Sports
Vir2ue are proud sponsors of Chafford Hundred FC, when the manager of the team approached Ian at a football event fours years ago with their plans to create a football side made up of under 18s from the local village.
After a few meetings Vir2ue decided to provide sponsorship for a home and away kit for the 1st season, then financial supporting for the following 2 years.
The partnership has been a happy and successful one, with a number of league titles and league cups during this period.
Supporting Youth in the Work Place
The directors and shareholders of Vir2ue are not only caring parents but also recognise that youth are the future, especially in the technology sector.
As a result, Vir2ue have utilised the Kick start scheme which provides under 21 age and below to get access to work experience that wouldn’t normally be available to them.
The program has proved successful with one of the three Kick Starters gaining full employment with the company.
The Vir2ue management team are working with local communities to provide a similar program which gives access to work experience to youngsters that wouldn’t ordinarily be available to them due to a number of reasons.
